Anti-Ragging Policy –
Our institution strictly follows the “UGC Regulations on Curbing the Menace of Ragging in Higher
Educational Institutions, 2009” and all subsequent directions issued by UGC / AICTE / Government
of India. Ragging in any form is totally banned on and off campus.
Ragging is a punishable criminal offence.
Any student found guilty of ragging, or of abetting ragging, is liable for strict disciplinary action
by the institution and for prosecution under applicable laws.
What is Ragging?
As per UGC / AICTE guidelines, “ragging” includes any conduct by a student or group of students
which causes or is likely to cause physical or psychological harm, fear, or embarrassment to any
other student. It covers one or more of the following acts (illustrative and not exhaustive):
- Any teasing, bullying, harassment or humiliation of a fresher or junior student.
- Forcing a student to do acts which they would not ordinarily do, causing shame or embarrassment.
- Verbal abuse, obscene remarks, or public insults, including through social media or email.
- Physical abuse such as pushing, hitting, hurting or any form of assault.
- Forcing consumption of alcohol, drugs, or any objectionable substance.
- Stripping, indecent behaviour, or any act that violates decency and morals.
- Wrongful restraint or confinement, or creating a hostile environment in hostel or campus.
Our Zero-Tolerance Policy
- Ragging is strictly prohibited in the campus, hostels, buses, canteen and all off‑campus locations
where students reside or gather as part of college activities.
- No student, including seniors, shall directly or indirectly participate in or encourage ragging.
- Any complaint of ragging will be treated with utmost seriousness and enquired into promptly.
Possible Disciplinary Actions
The Anti-Ragging Committee may recommend one or more of the following actions, depending on the
nature and gravity of the incident (in line with UGC / AICTE regulations):
- Written warning and formal apology.
- Suspension from attending classes and academic privileges.
- Withholding of scholarships / fellowships / other benefits.
- Debarring from examinations or evaluation processes.
- Suspension or expulsion from hostel.
- Cancellation of admission or rustication from the institution for one or more semesters.
- Expulsion from the institution and debarring from admission to any other institution.
- Filing of FIR with the police and initiation of criminal proceedings, wherever applicable.

Within the Institution:
- Students can report ragging incidents to any faculty member, warden, or directly to the
Anti‑Ragging Committee / Anti‑Ragging Squad of the college.
- Complaints may be made in person, by written application, by email, or through the college
website grievance/complaint form.
- All complaints will be treated with confidentiality and will be enquired into promptly.
Undertaking by Students and Parents
At the time of admission, every student and parent/guardian shall submit an anti‑ragging
undertaking, as mandated by UGC, affirming that the student will not indulge in ragging and
understands the consequences of violating this policy.
Appeal and Support
- Any student feeling aggrieved by the decision of the Anti‑Ragging Committee may submit an
appeal to the competent authority as per institutional rules.
- Counselling support will be made available to victims as well as offending students, wherever
required, to ensure their psychological well‑being.
